What is the difference between BWR and BWP plywood?

BWR (boiling water resistant) plywood resists moisture and occasional splashes, so it suits wardrobes, beds and kitchen units away from the sink. BWP (boiling waterproof) plywood is bonded with phenol-formaldehyde resin and is made for prolonged exposure to water, so use it for sink units, bathroom vanities and other wet areas.

Use at least 18 mm for wardrobe sides, shutters and shelves (19 mm is the usual recommendation for panels) so they do not sag, and 6 mm for the back panel. Tall wardrobes and long shelves can use block board, which stays straight over long spans.

Yes. The glue lines and timber in our plywood, block boards and flush doors are chemically treated to resist borers and termites. Installation matters too: keep boards off damp floors and walls, and seal every cut edge.
