Products · Block Board
Block boards with a pine and poplar batten core, double core veneer and gurjan face veneers — made at our factory in Jhajjar and supplied across Delhi NCR, Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.

How it's built
Our block boards have a wooden batten core sandwiched between outer veneers, with the grain of the core running perpendicular to the veneers. We use a blend of pine and poplar wood, a double core veneer and original gurjan face veneers.
We take care at every stage: battens are precisely cut and systematically arranged for uniform thickness, materials are selected and treated to resist termite and borer attack, and every board passes multiple checkpoints so it leaves the factory gap-free.
| Core | Pine and poplar wood battens |
|---|---|
| Veneers | Double core veneer, original gurjan face veneer |
| Adhesive | Boiling-waterproof resin |
| Treatment | Termite and borer resistant |
| Finish | Can be painted, polished, veneered or laminated |
| Sizes | Standard sizes, customisable to your requirement |
Block board is the board to choose when a panel is long, tall or wide and must stay straight. Its solid batten core resists bending far better than particle board or MDF, and it is lighter than plywood of the same thickness, which makes large shutters and panels easier to hang and handle.
| Use | Why block board | Usual thickness |
|---|---|---|
| Wardrobe sides and shutters | Tall panels stay flat and shutters do not bow | 19 mm |
| Long shelves and bookcases | Spans without sagging under load | 19–25 mm |
| Beds, bed boxes and headboards | Stiff and strong for large panels | 19–25 mm |
| Table tops and study desks | Flat, rigid top that holds screws well | 25 mm |
| Doors, partitions and wall panelling | Light enough to hang, stiff enough to stay true | 19–25 mm |
Keep block board for dry areas. For kitchen sink units, bathroom vanities and anything that gets wet regularly, use BWP or marine-grade plywood instead.
Block board is lighter and stiffer over long spans, so it is better for shelves, wardrobe sides, beds and doors. Plywood holds up better in moisture, takes detailed cutting and edge screwing more cleanly, and is the safer choice for kitchens and bathrooms. Most interiors use both, each where it suits.
| Block board | Plywood | |
|---|---|---|
| Core | Solid softwood battens | Thin veneers glued in alternating directions |
| Long spans | Resists sagging and bowing | Can sag over long, unsupported spans |
| Weight | Lighter for the same thickness | Heavier |
| Wet areas | Not recommended | BWP and marine grades are made for them |
| Detailed cutting | Can chip at the core strips | Cuts cleanly in any direction |
| Best for | Wardrobes, shelves, beds, doors, table tops | Kitchens, bathrooms, drawers, curved and detailed work |
More detail: blockboard vs plywood compared and what block board is.
19 mm is the everyday thickness for wardrobes, shelves and bed frames. Move to 25 mm for table tops, large bed bases and shelves that carry heavy loads, and use thinner boards only for light partitions and panelling. When in doubt, tell us the span and the load and we will suggest a thickness.
Features & advantages
Block board's stiffness and resistance to bending make it a popular alternative to plywood for furniture and long panels.
We supply block boards to contractors, carpenters, interior designers and dealers in Delhi NCR, Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, alongside our plywood and flush doors.

FAQ
Block board is an engineered wood panel with a core of softwood strips (battens) sandwiched between layers of wood veneer, with the core grain running perpendicular to the face veneers. It is stiff, resists bending and is lighter than plywood of the same thickness.
Use block board for tall wardrobe sides, long shelves and doors, where its stiffness stops sagging and bowing. Use plywood for drawers, small parts and anything near water. Many carpenters build the carcass in plywood and the long panels and shutters in block board.
Most bed frames, headboards and storage boxes use 19 mm block board. For a large bed base or panels that carry heavy loads, use 25 mm. Thinner boards suit light partitions and panelling only.
Not where it will get wet. Block board suits dry areas — wardrobes, beds, shelving and doors. Use BWP or marine-grade plywood for sink units, bathroom vanities and other areas that get wet regularly.
Untreated softwood cores can attract termites and borers. MRS block boards are made from materials treated to resist termite and borer attack. Keep boards off damp walls and floors and seal cut edges for the best protection.
MRS block boards use a blend of pine and poplar wood battens in the core, a double core veneer and original gurjan face veneers, bonded with boiling-waterproof resin.
